Denise was born in Hindley, Wigan in 1971 and studied at Liverpool University and Goldsmiths College University London. She worked with Anthony Gormley on the creation of " the Field for the British Isles" and has been Artist in Residence and worked on several sculpture projects in the north west and south west. In 2001 she won the Sculpture Prize at the Handel House in Devizes. Since 1991 she has been Head of Ceramics at Swindon College establishing the HND / C Ceramics course. Her work is inspired by childhood and adult experiences of the coast and she is drawn to the finer detail of textures materials colours and forms of the coast and its associated objects.
